QKD Samples

Happy Sunday! Today is day 2 of our being snowed in. Friday evening it snowed then turned to sleet in the early morning on Saturday. Add those 2 things together and it equals a beautiful, hard packed, slick as ice surface, EVERYWHERE. You know, the kind where you step on it and your feet don't sink, you just kinda walk on top of it...

Are we REALLY snowed in, no. But people down here are crazy and don't have any idea how to drive in the snow. Friday there were 700 reported accidents in the triangle and 600 today. Yes, really... I learned how to drive on the backwoods mountains of WV in the snow, ice and rain. This is nothing, but I'm keeping the Jetta safe and dent free in the driveway! To compensate for being trapped indoors I cleaned my craft room and got to work while Kev played a LOT of Internet poker.

Then I realized that I hadn't yet posted my creations using the stamps from QKD's January release. Oops. So without further adieu, here's Sophia the Seamstress.

I used some fun papers from Cosmo Cricket and colored her with Copics. I just love this color combo!

For the second one I pulled out some paper from MME. Again with the Copics and I was pretty amused with my bow. Ooo, love the bling as well!

Don't forget to stop by the QKD blog hop on Monday. Start at the QKD blog and see what the ladies have in store for you! I haven't received my Feb assignment yet so I won't be joining but I'll still have something pretty to show!
Enjoy!

Royal Kat Monday!

Hey all! Welcome to Royal Kat Monday! Hopefully you've bopped over here from Penny's blog. If not, head on back to the beginning so you'll be sure not to miss a thing! This week we had a super cool picture to use as our inspiration.

I really liked the lines in the panels of the fireplace and drew on that for my inspiration.

It's a little hard to see but I scored some lined on the card stock before adding my image. I used the Cute Dragonette stamp which FINALLY arrived after what seemed like forever! We have a new mail man, I wonder if he has something to to with my mail trouble. hmmm. Any way, I colored her with my copics and added a pop of red with the bow. I think she's adorable.
Well, your time with me is through and you need to go see Wynneth. but before you go, don't forget that Everything is 20% off in the store! Just add the code TT20 in the coupon code at checkout! It's good until the end of the month!
Enjoy!

Time to make some cards.

Happy Saturday! Today was a bit of a sleep in day for me. We went to see Steven Wright last night at the Carolina theater. We didn't get out tickets until that morning so the seat pickings were a little sparse. Apparently we could have had better seats but you had to be at above 5'4" to sit there. Lemme tell you, that's some BS. My short stature was discriminated against and forced into a less comfy seat. Boooo. At least the show was good. My favorite line was, "what's Jesus ever done for Santa's birthday?" snicker...

Today Kevin and I were looking at houses and we found some pretty nice ones that we really liked. Mind you, I need a job first before we can move but hey, I'm optimistic! There are some pretty good deals on new construction right now with some ridiculous discounts on options. One place was offering $35,000 in free options! Do you have any idea what I could do with that much $?? But for now we have to wait...

Instead, how about a little something I whipped up using one of my PTI sets?

I just love that these are made to be used with buttons. I have a bunch and they have a tendency to be neglected. I paired it with some paper from my stash, crushed curry and old olive card stocks. Nice and easy!
Well, I have to get to cleaning, we have some visitors coming tomorrow and the house is definitely NOT in company shape!!
Enjoy!

Valentine's treats

Today I had to run up to Oxford and drop off a special order and drop off some Valentine's creations. It was a delightfully warm 67 degree day today and I rode up with the sun roof open. For a girl who spent the first 27 odd years of her life in the Pittsburgh area, there's still something just a little wrong about that. This time last year we were getting ready for the great blizzard of 2009 where 6 inches of snow resulted in 700+ closings in the area. Growing up, 6 inches was just another Wednesday.

I'm not feeling terribly confident that we'll see any of the fluffy white stuff this year so I'll have to content myself with memories of winters past.... Sigh...how about a little something I whipped up for V-Day?

I made some diaper fold pouches and added a pack of conversation hearts. The yellow Necco ones are my FAVORITES and I always save them until the end. These aren't them and the yellow aren't nearly as awesome, but still adorable, right!!. :(

Then I inked up yet another neglected Unity stamp. Ugh, I really had 3 untouched KOTMs hanging around. I stink.
I colored it with my handy dandy Copics and made use of some happy V-Day paper.
Well, that's about it for now, I have to go rescue the knitting yarn from Titus.
Enjoy!

Royal Kat Wednesday!

Hey all! I'm back!! My absence was against my will as the post office decided to keep my QKD stamps instead of delivering them for me to play with. So this week 2 things happened, I got my stamps and this week;s challenge was to use an older set. Score for me on both counts!

Hopefully you bopped over here from Penny's blog. If not, head on back to the beginning and see what you've missed!!

So, this week the challenge was to use red, white and black in your card along with an older stamp. I finally inked up my Russian Dolls set

You like? I colored them with my Copics and paired it with some fun Damask paper. Now, I'll give you a little treat, from now until the end of the month you can get 20%off EVERYTHING in the store for 20% off! Just enter code TT20 in the coupon code at check out!

Now, that's all for me! Head on over to see Wynneth I know she has some thing awesome waiting for you!

Hidey Ho!

Hola peeps! What's been going on? My blogging has been a little sporadic in the past few months since I haven't been feeling well. One of the awful side effects of my illness was the elimination of coffee from my diet. Now, it wasn't advised that I should give up the delicious brew, but it simply didn't taste good. The nectar of the gods which once graced my cup 3, sometimes 4 times a day had been rudely yanked from my life without even a kiss on the cheek goodbye.

I am ridiculously pleased to announce that coffee is again AWESOME!! Yes!!! Not only is coffee awesome but apparently I lost my tolerance to caffeine. Do you know what that means???!!! Yes, I've been bouncing off the walls for the last 4 days. Lalalalalalalalalala..... And I did learn to knit. Well, mostly... I learned how to cast on, knit and purl. Right now I have 1/8 of a tiny gray scarf. After I run out of yarn I'll learn how to cast off and finish it. Next stop, a sock.

So, how about a simple card? Go patterned paper and punches! Pretty simple and I used another un-loved Unity stamp.

Off to harass the kitties and watch some Golden Globes.
Enjoy!

More Valentine's cards!

I am SOOOOoooo bored today. I had to take the VW in for an oil change and tire rotation at 9am this morning. At first they wanted me in at 730. WhAAAt??? it's an OIL change. After more pestering than I expected I got them down to 9. Bleck.. So, got the oil changed and I was up, coffee'd and accomplished something. Seriously, this was the most activity I'd done in the morning in a LONG time.

Then I went to Babies r Us and learned that there are some ridiculous things for sale there. I saw a baby bath and spa. Apparently babies need a whirlpool bath. Really... I think my mom washed me in a pot on the table. Then I was hungry and got a pretzel. Then I decided to learn how to knit and went to a yarn store to sign up for a beginner class. After that, I saw a sign at Whole Foods advertising a juice seminar and I went over there. The juicer wasn't $500 cool but it was OK. The juice was gross though. Then I bought some gluten-free cookies that I tried at Starbucks yesterday and some organic cookies that were shaped like eco-friendly things. in the box there are tiny windmills, a happy sun, the earth and a Prius.

After all of that I called Kevin and he made fun of me. He told me not to get a new hobby and to go to my craft room and make a card. Then he said I should be looking for a job instead. Yes, yes, I need to look for a job. So blog-world friends, I am an experienced department manager who specializes in call center management. Anyone know of anything in the Raleigh/Durham area??

I'm watching some trash TV instead of going to the craft room. I have a new episode of Teen Mom and Luger is perched in front of the TV ready to get started. So instead here's a little something I whipped up the other day. I again used my much neglected Unity KOTM stamps.

I pulled the turquoise from the designer paper to add a pop of color. Then I added some stickles and bling. It's a little different for me.

Huh, Kev's home. I'd better look productive. Peace out!

TPE Challenge

K, it has been a ridiculously long time since I've played along with a Pink Elephant Challenge. Seriously, really LONG.... I was super excited to see that the task was to create a birthday card. My birthday stash is virtually nonexistent, so I knew I'd better get crackin'!!

I pulled out a MUCH neglected Unity stamp from one of the past KOTMs. Then I pieced together paper from a really cute pack of K.E.I (I think) paper that I scored for 50% off. I then colored the cakes with Copics and added some sparkle.

Off to make a few more!
Enjoy!

Ready for February?

Hi all! So, no Royal Kat Monday for me today. For some reason the post office doesn't believe that I live here and hasn't delivered my last 3 packages. Oh, I've received plenty of packages from other places but not from QKD for some reason. Grrr.... So please head over to the beginning of the hop and check out all of the creations of the other DT members!

Instead I have a little something I whipped up using one of my much neglected Kim Hughes sets.

I colored the birdies with Copics and the paper is from the new Bo Bunny line. CUTE!

Well, that's all for now!
Enjoy!!

Some oldie oldies...

I have SO many pictures that I never got posted to ye olde blogeroni. I guess that I should be thankful that I actually remembered to take pictures Eh?

So, back in December I attended a craft show with a friend of mine at her work. It was a hand made show that was specifically for the employees to sell their wares OR for friends of employees to bring their stuff and help fill the table. Grin..

This was the first time I'd ever sold handmade stuff at a show, it's always been Homemade Gourmet so I wasn't sure what to expect. Also, I wasn't feeling too hot so I had fewer items than I would have liked. First up is Santa!! I made him by cutting out a boat load of Top Note dies in various colors and embossing them for a little texture.

Then I stuck a giant candy cane through the top of his head.

Next I had some frappuchino bottles that I filled with homemade hot chocolate. I'll be honest, I don't care for the cold coffee in the bottle so I bought a package on sale and dumped the drink. They were $4 so I figured that a $1 a bottle wasn't too bad. I used a cute cocoa stamp from 2 scoops of rice I love food with faces..

Next I had a few nugget tins left over that I Christmased up. I bought the felt flowers off Etsy from CarefreeGlimmer Aren't they cute??!!

Then I made some smaller cocoa cups.

And lastly I decorated some of the Target mailboxes I had left over from last year.

I filled them with a few Lindt truffles I picked up at the outlet mall. They were the first thing I sold out of.

I also had some chocolate dreidels that I didn't get a picture of... All in all it was a pretty successful day. I ended with more $ that I came with and my box was a lot lighter when I left. Pretty cool if you ask me.:)
Alright, off to make another post!
Enjoy!

A little nugget of wisdom

Happy New Year!!

Kev and I decided to take a spur of the minute trip to Atlantic City last week where we promptly had our asses handed to us. Perdon my French. :) Got back and we have a visitor for a few days. So, lots of stuff going on right now and more to post in the near future, just not quite yet.

In the mean time our guest had a fabulous quote which she has been attributing to my hubby for years but he claims it wasn't him. Regardless, it's a FANTASTIC observation and I shall give it to kev.

"Glitter is the herpes of the craft world." - Kevin Badanes
